Music reflection - 03/12/2009
In instrument class, we practiced what we have to play for the practical exam which is major scales and our pentatonic melody. First up was piano, second was flute, third is violin and last but not the least is guitar. In instrument class, we practiced playing scales.
Music reflection - 02/12/2009
Today Mr. Sadrakh told us we were going to have a practical exam next week. We have to play major scales and our own pentatonic melody we composed. So in theory class, Mr. Harry told us to prepare the C, D, E, F ,G, A and B major scales, two octaves each. For those who think they cannot play two octaves, they can play one.

Music reflection - 19/11/2009
Today, Mr. John and Hary also teached with Mr. Sadrakh. Throughout the lesson, we were always quizzed about scales, tonic triads or chords. We were also asked to count intervals from a certain note to another which made me soooooooooo confused >_< . Later, at the end of the class, Mr. John gave an announcement that we will have a practical assessment which includes playing some scales and playing the pentatonic melody we composed...

Music reflection - 18/11/2009
Today, taking the attendance was quick. We reviewed about scales and chords, and later discussed about the minor scale. We learnt the third and fourth minor scales and we were quizzed about their chords which was VERY confusing. In instrument class, we learned how to play tonic triad inversions. Finding the notes are easy but I still need to work on my fingering... >_<

Music reflection - 11/11/2009
Today some people took the re-test and ofcourse, played better than last week. After that, we all had to fill in sheet with our reflections about singing an Asian and Indonesian song, composing and playing our pentatonic melody and about using the finale software.

Music reflection - 05/11/2009
Today is the day of our assessment. Before it starts, some kids unpacked their instruments (no pianos of course) like violins, guitars and flutes. They practiced playing their melody. I was nervous when I was called to play mine because I thought the song was weird but after I played, most of my friends complimented my song.
Music reflection - 04/11/2009
Today we reviewed about the two pentatonic scales and C and G major scales plus chords and were told how to put lyrics on a melody properly. Then we learnt the minor scales and their structure and afterwards Mr. Sadrakh gave us home work. We have to re- write our final melody on a sheet of paper for tomorrow's assessment, playing the 16 bar pentatonic melody we composed.
Music reflection - 29/10/2009
First we checked our attendance and "finale" homework. Most of us will submit it tomorrow because we're not finished yet. Then later we watched other students practice the melody they composed for the assessment next week.

Music reflection - 28/10/2009
After Mr. Sadrakh took our attendance, we discussed our "finale" home work which we have to submit tomorrow. Some students are still confused about the software installation and how to use it so Mr. Sadrakh explained it again. He showed us how to set up the wizard, place the note and lyrics. Then, we wrote our reflection on a piece of paper about singing the song "Gundul gundul pacul".
Music reflection - 22/10/2009
As always, we started by checking our attendance. Then Mr. Sadrakh asked us to copy our song lyrics to a sheet of paper given yesterday. Devina's song was about the sound of music, Amatta's was about cows, Vienna's is about her melody, Dita's and mine were both related to happiness! I think each of our own topics are unique (and quite funny ^-^). After that, Mr Harry explained about the finale 2009 software. He explained each step for installing the software to make sure we understand.

Music reflection - 21/10/2009
Mr.Sadrakh took our attendance and reviewed something about our home work. We were told to copy the pentatonic scale melody we composed to a sheet of paper. We will be rewarded extra points if we write neatly! He said we will have to play it for our assessment this term. After that activity, we had to sing the chinese folk song that we learned last week by pairs.
In instrument class, we were shown the finale 2009 software that we have to download.
Mr. Harry gave us an example of how to use it.

Music Reflection - 15/10/2009
Today, we learned how to sing an Indonesian song called "Gundul gundul pacul". First we sang it together, and then later we sang two by two. My partner is Jesica.
In instrument class, we played the song we composed (using pentatonic scales...) coordinating them with broken chords.
Music Reflection - 14/10/2009
Mr. Sadrakh took our attendance and checked our previous home work. He also quizzed some people about chords. Then later, we learned to sing a Chinese folk song - translated in english. Mr. Sadrakh tried to sing it with the Chinese version and it was very funny! He pronounced some words wrongly and had a funny tone.... :D

Music Reflection - 07/09/2009
First we checked our attendance (as usual...). Mr. Sadrakh also checked if we did our homework or not. Some people didn't complete their homework so they'll get a zero for their scores. Then, we were shown Shania's and Sunaina's blogspot page. Afterwards, he gave us a sheet with two Indonesian song lyrics and some info of it at the back. We learned the pentatonic scale and our homework is to compose a melody out of it.
In instrument class, Mr. Harry gave us some tips of how to compose the melody. Some people finished it already, like Louis so Mr. Harry asked him to play his song for us.
Music Reflection - 10/09/2009
First, we checked our homework, which is placing a sharp to 1 of the notes in the G major scale. Some people didn't understand and were confused so Mr. Sadrakh explained it again and quizzed them. After that, we were explained about the D major scale and A major scale.
Music reflection - 09/09/2009
Today in theory class, we learned the G major scale and Mr. Sadrakh gave us homework about it. We also learned why it is called the natural or major scale. And then he told us our assessment scores and I got 98 out of 100!
In instrument class, we discussed about term 1 activities and what yo prepare for term 2.

Music reflection - 03/09/2009
Today is the day of the assessment. When I played the piano, I felt so nervous that I made lots of mistakes and I was playing too fast/ out of tempo. I was also eager to know my scores or results.
Music reflection - 02/09/2009
In music theory, I submitted the booklet of Sumatra music. Mr. Sadrakh and Mr. Herry also explained about putting our reflection on the blog. We have to send our url address to our teachers by using email.
In instrument class, I practiced playing a song on the piano for tomorrow's assessment. Mr. Herry gave us feedback on how to improve.

Music reflection - 27/08/2009
Yesterday, Nikkita, Jennifer, Matthew, Ryan and I were supposed to present our powerpoint presentation on Sumatran music, but some slides were missing and we have not put in an attachment such sound clips or videos. So, Matthew took it home and finished it so we were able to present it today. After that, Mr. Sadrakh told us to print the slides of the powerpoint and to make it into a booklet. When we finished writing that assignment in our learning journals, he also asked some people to play a song from an instrument they are currently learning now.

Music reflection - 19/08/2009
Today, in instrument class, Mr. Herry explained what will be marked in the assessment next week and he told us about how we should perform (playing the piano) . As we played the piano, Mr. Herry reminded us about the tempo, dynamics, etc.
Music reflection - 13/08/2009
For instrument class, Mr. Herry teached us how to play harmonic minor scales. Identifiying notes with a sharp on it is such a fuss! I think I need to practice more on that and try to remember the fingering.
Music reflection - 12/08/2009
In theory class, Mr. Sadrakh explained that we have to present a powerpoint presentation on Indonesian traditional music. There was Nikkita, Jennifer, Matthew and Ryan in my group. Our main idea or topic is about Sumatran music. First of all, we discussed and divided jobs before we started making the powerpoint. It is due on 26/08/2009, so we agreed to finish editing the powerpoint presentation before the due date.
In instrument class, we practiced playing a song we are learning on the piano. I think my weaknesses are that I hit a lot of wrong notes on the keyboard of the piano and because I'm playing too fast.
